Educational Goals

Rotation in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, University of California Irvine is designed to provide the orthopaedic resident an in-depth experience in operative and non-operative management of common as well as sophisticated and tertiary orthopaedic problems. Emphasis is placed on spinal deformity, trauma, and degenerative diseases along with an in-depth experience in sports and athletic medicine, arthroscopic procedures, sophisticated ligamentous reconstructions, shoulder and hand re-constructive surgery, and joint replacement arthroplasty of the hip, knee, and shoulder. Thorough participation in ongoing clinics, programs, lectures, conferences, supervised patient care, and in-depth surgical experience should provide interested and attentive orthopaedic residents with sufficient experience to manage a wide range of diseases and afflictions of the musculoskeletal system.
